Your body is an investment, plain and simple. It’s a tool that allows you to experience life to its fullest. In my experience, the best way for clients to truly understand their body is to look at their body as a business. Whether you’re a pro-athlete, super-mom, weekend warrior, or a student, investing in your health is the key to living optimally.

As a business owner, your goal is to ensure that your business is maximizing profits and minimizing costs. In the case of your body, this means looking for foods and making choices that will give you the highest return on investment. Your body is your business, and it’s your responsibility to make sure you’re making the most profitable, (I.e., healthy) choices for you.

The one thing I tell every client is to look for changes that will give you the “best bang for your buck,” or the highest return on investment (ROI’s). These are changes that increase your energy and help you feel your best. The solutions are often simple and painless.

My top 3 tips?

  1. Eat Breakfast before you leave the house, every morning. The key word is EAT! Just as you would prepare for your business day, your body needs this fuel to keep running efficiently. By making sure you eat a nutrient packed meal first thing, you protect yourself from allowing external factors control your nutritional schedule.

  1. Eat 1 cup of vegetables for every 50lbs of your body weight everyday. It’s not enough to get in a serving and call it quits. Your body needs to maintain these nutrient levels. Leafy greens should take up no more than 2 of those cups.

  1. Drink 1L for every 50lbs of body weight every day. Just plain water, no coffee or tea.

These are high ROI changes that will help you build a better body. Would you spend time and money on an effort that might harm your business? Probably not. So why do the same to your body? When it comes to making healthy, beneficial changes, it all comes down to changing your perspective. Treat your body like you would your business, and invest high quality foods and nutrients into it. When your body is performing at it’s best, you will get the most out of life.
